We've compiled about 100 years of riding experience for this latest CanyonChasers addition. It is with great joy that we announce to the world that long anticipated Long Way Round sequel, Long Way Down has begin. The website claims that they are currently in the planning stages. For this trip, the two will leave John o' Groats in Scotland and ride south to Cape Town in South Africa. From what we've learned, they will leave in May 2007 and they with cameraman Claudio. The web-site suggests that a television series bwill be broadcast in September 2007, but there is no information on whether it will again be on Sky One or whether BMW will supply the motorbikes. We've all pined over those photos that use trick photography or photoshop to make a bike bodywork look translucent. Its cool to see how everything sits behind that plastic swoopy goodness. Even Eric Buell was so inspired that he uses translucent body panels on his City-X bikes. But now Hotbodies has taken that one step further with a complete set of clear bodywork! Thats right! According to the information we've been able to find, the body panels are made from the same material as windscreens, available in clear or smoke. What is is with the land of Oz? First, we learn that Danny and Loretta have left the relatively safety of Southern Utah and have moved off to New Zealand. The very next day, Mike and Crystal left for a month of frolic and fun in Australia. Saddened (and extremely jealous) by their departure we made them promise to keep us updated with photos of their journeys. With great joy we arrived at work to find that the first batch of photo's have arrived! (Sadly, there are no captions to explain what we are seeing - but who are we to complain? SV's are known for a having a very long twist required to get the bike to full-throttle. Not a big deal for many folks, but for those who take their SV's to the track the very long twist is rather bothersome. Fortunately someone figured out that a specific R6 throttle tube is just different enough from every other throttle tube that for less than ten dollars you can convert your SV to a much shorter twist throttle. A new website, designed to help organize group motorcycle rides has just been launched. Titled "Sunday Morning Rides" the website is one more of those platformed off of maps.google.com. The site boasts itself as an interactive community portal for motorcycle riders to access, explore, plan, and share motorcycle tracks via a sophisticated ride mapping system that combines GPS, geographic information systems, database, and Google mapping technologies. The mapper let's you customize your favorite ride with community contributed points-of-interest, media, rider reviews, hazards, weather, road-work and more!

The job's not done yet, but the progress is noticeable! Its no secret that the original damper rod forks on the SV are lacking, and while GSX-R forks are the most popular upgrade, we found a set of 636 forks with no home. We've spent the better part of our winter fidgeting in the garage retrofitting the inverted cartridge forks to little SV. Its not as hard as one would think, and there have been a few hiccups along the way, but so far things are looking really good. In the August of 2006 our lives felt like they were spinning out of control, injuries, job stresses, house stresses - you name it. But what better way to deal with it that to squeeze away for 48 hours of motorcycling? We locked the doors and rode off into the morning light following the well worn path between Salt Lake and Jackson Hole, taking Canyon Roads we've been riding on since before most of entered the College arena.
