When there is a moto-specific public service announcement that is done well, we like to bring as much attention to it as possible. This latest one we've found, produced by the Britsh Army is quite excellent. Titled, your tough, but not invincible it makes a very good point and has a pretty impressive crash sequence. Just when you start to complain about the state of affairs in America a bit of news from somewhere else sneaks and and realigns perspectives. Take for example China where the city of Shenzhen has banned motorcycles, and according to this article several other Chinese cities are also banning motorcycles. This shocking images shows where almost 15,000 "illegal" motorcycles were destroyed in one day after the ban went into affect. What could possibly justify such a ban? The article attributes the ban to claims that criminals were using motorcycles to snatch purses. We say we think this is a short-sighted and stupid reaction. Read the article »

In a shocking move, Buell announced the second Rotax powered buell model, coined the 1125 CR (We can only assume thats for Cafe Racer, just like Ducati did 20 or so years ago with the 900CR). But most shockingly is the fact that Buell modeled the new naked supersport (is that another Ducati copy) after a Disney movie character. Yes, that's right. We really have no idea if this is for real or a great spoof of some sorts, but in either case it is just too good to not pass on to you, our loyal readers. Since we've been consistently recognized for our support of female moto riding, we felt compelled to pass on information about the International Female Ride Day, coming May second. The event is a synchronized day, worldwide, where women motorcycle riders "JUST RIDE" -- demonstrating their enjoyment and in most cases, passion for motorcycle riding. The campaign was created with the aim of highlighting the number of women who ride and building female rider awareness -- encouraging other women to take up the activity. From the Department of There's-No-Way-We-Could-Make-This-Up, a recent interview with the famous actor known best for his role as Captain Kirk, the swashbuckling captain of the Starship Enterpise, William Shatner retold a motorcycle crash story. Directly quoting a StarPulse.com article; "[Shatner] refuses to pad up and rides around the state wearing just beach clothes - even after a crash that could have killed him. He explains, 'I think leather, and helmets and protective gear is foolish, in the hot California weather. I ride with sandals and shorts and a t-shirt.'"
