1983 Yamaha Vision XZ550 - My first motorcycle

The 83 had extra exhaust and dual disk brakes in front. Still a hot bike though

I had a new '83 as my first bike. White on red. Set up with soft saddle bags and a tank bag you could ride all day. With the bars in lowest position it made a great sport tourer. Sold it for the mortgage, but now on board a Triumph Daytona 955i. Different ride for different needs these days!

correct on the brakes. do I remember correctly that the 82s did not come stock with fairings? I converted my 82 to the factory fairing (as in the pic). I remember that bike fondly. when was that pic taken?

You are correct. The fairing was an option in 1982. It was made standard in 1983. Cycle Canada Magazine noted that it turned "an ugly duckling into a swan". Not that it matters...anyone who rode a Vision back then knew that they were riding one of the best V-twin engines available in its day.
