Multistrada 1200 Front Brake Caliper Upgrade
For whatever reason, Ducati used Monster 696 calipers on the heavier and much more powerful Multistrada 1200. While these calipers work fine on the Monsters and Hypermotards, they have some design flaws that make them less than ideal for the Multi.
We’ll go through the process of upgrading to the much more powerful Brembo M50 or Brembo M4 monoblock calipers that come on the Superbikes. The install process is identical for the M50 or the M4. We opted for the M50’s simply because we think they are super pretty.
The Products We Use

This upgrade works extremely well and is very straight forward on 2010 to 2012 Multistrada 1200s, including the ABS models. However, on 2013 and 2014 Multistrada, Ducati added linked brakes with ABS. Because of the inherent complexity of ABS systems with Linked brakes, if you own a 2013 or 2014 Multistrada, we strongly encourage this upgrade, particularly the final bleed-process, be performed by an authorized/certified motorcycle technician.
Additionally, while this is a fairly straight-forward process, if you do not feel entirely comfortable working on your motorcycle, please take your bike to a certified/authorized motorcycle technician to perform this task. Brakes are probably the most critical component on your motorcycle and not something you want to have fail.
